The group takes stairs down. As they emerge into a huge cave, they see a small town build within. The entire cave is fantly lit and the light permits the group to see the full extent of the town. As they are taking in their surroundings, several baggars amoung the dozens on the stairs attack them. The group quickly dispatches the attackers, who are no match for their strength.
A human, possibly a guard of some sort, approaches the group on the stairs and warns them to cause no trouble. He then casualy kills a baggar the group had captured.
The stairs descend into what seems to be the town’s bazaar. The group spends several hours shopping and make several purchases. When they ask about the Green Mage, they are laughed at and told to speak with Hakiem, a storyteller. He is usually at the Vulgar Unicorn the town’s only Inn.
Going to the Inn, Anna haggles with One-Thumb, the innkeeper, and obtains a room for the group and food in exchange for her services. She must perform 4 hours an night. The group speaks with Hakiem, who tells them of the Gardens, a sub-level of Undermountain taken over by the Green Mage. He was possibly an apprentice of Halaster. Hakiem does not know how to get there. He says to seek out either Illyra, a seer, or Enas Yorl, a mage possibly even more powerful than Halaster.
That night, the group goes to their room and uses Rope Trick as an added precaution. Somehow, during the night, Enas Yorl appears in their pocket dimension and speaks with them. He will tell them how to reach the Gardens if they perform a service for him: bathe a gem in a pool found in the center of Halaster’s Gauntlet. Enas Yorl leaves them with the gem.

The group goes to see the Seer, Illyra. She is a humanoid who hides behind a thick veil and who speaks with a hissing voice. Each member of the group asks a question and gain some information.
The group then goes to the Hawkmask sector, looking for a slave that they coulod buy who would help them with healing. The slaver laughs in their face, flatly stating than any cleric that somehow became a slave would not sold here.
