Olaf Brienson’s farm, Jarldom of Fenris, December 11th 1357?
The group moves north in signle file due to weather. After a few hours, Fist hears movement ahead: two Dire Wolves attack but they are no match and are quickly dispatched. The groups skins the wolves, claiming the first two wolf skins required by Logan Grimnar.
The groups heads north again, in more clement weather. They come across the tracks of a massive elk herd and follow it. Quickly they are among the Elk who avoid them slightly but do not flee very far. After a few minutes, they come upon the remains of an elk, still warm and obviously killed recently. As they examine the corpse, they hear the scream of an elk up ahead and rush forward. They find four worgs attacking an elk and engage them in battle. After a short battle, they dispatch the 4 worgs. Examining the worgs, they find a trail heading away from the herd, trailing blood. Something has taken another elk and is dragging it away at a ferocious speed. Forced between choosing the pelts or following the trail,m the group decides to follow the trail.
The trail leads away for about an hour and leads the group to a cave in a small hill. While discussing what to do, Anna Darkjoy tried to charm fascinate the group because she wants to return to civilization but the rest of the group have none of it. The group cautiously enters the cave, which turns immediately to the left. They come face to face with a Winter Wolf, who breathes a blanket of cold on them as son as he can. A short but ferocious battle ensues and the group emerges battered but victorious. Since night approches, the group decides to stay in the cave but goes to retrieve the pelts from the four worgs first. Fist takes the Winter Wolf’s pelt as his own.
Ice Plains north of Fangheim, Jarldom of Fenris, December 12th 1357?
In the morning, the group makes their way back to Fangheim and they reach the town in the late afternoon. As they enter the Inn, they are surprised and attacked by Andrei Krasnyi who is as astonished as they are to meet them. He uses the dark powers granted by Bane to send a wave of death out from his holy symbol, killing several villagers in the process. However, Logan Grimnar bursts into the Inn and ends the battle.
After hearing the accusations of theft from Andrei, he decrees a trial by combat and makes his displeasure known to Andrei by imposing rules clearly unfavorable to him. The entire village gathers before the gates and an arena is quickly cleared of snow. The group battles Andrei valiantly and wound him severely but eventually, one by one, he kills them all. The first to fall is Hikaru the Fox.
As death takes the group, Andrei surges forward to claim the bag in which his sword is carried but Logan intervenes. “A good battle you may have given me and worthy foes they were, but you brought violence to my village and killed several of my kin! For this, I will deny you your prize!” With a curse against Andrei for initiating violence in his village, Logan tosses the bag over the palisade and Andrei disappears in the snow, frantically searching for his sword.
Darkness finally takes the group and then light. They find themselves on the road where they initially found the bag holding the sword after they had lost it. At their feet is the bag itself and, in the darkness, they see the light in the distance which had proved to be the watchfire of Fangheim when they last found themselves on this road. They have come again to Fangheim and are alive to speak of it!
