December 25th 1357, Mirt’s Mansion in Waterdeep
After discussing the two options for getting the reference text that Kobios needs (Venrar’s Guide to the Wyrmkind and their rites.), you decide that risking Undermountain is faster and probably just as dangerous as trying to travel to the Trollmoors during the worst winter in recent memory.
A moment later, a knock at the door to Mirt’s study is hear and the door is openned by Mirt’s chamberlain. “Iratus Pater, sir, to see you”. He stands aside and Iratus enters the room. As always, his presence is slightly disconcerting. He bearing and aura speak of righteousness and strength. Being in the presence of Peirgeron is a similar experience, but something about Iratus is even more powerful.
Iratus greets you all warmly. “I do not wish to be brusk, but I am urgently needed elsewhere. Did you find out anything about the dragon attack in Amphail?” He asks as he sits down.
You give him the short version of the details: the dragon specifically targeted Corvell Larond, the shop owner. The dragon interrogated him at length, but no one was close enough to hear what was said. The dragon the killed Corvell and left. You also mention the dead female black dragon in the cave to the east, the written oath of vengeance and the symbol of the Cult of the Dragon.
Lastly, you mentionn the two books you took from the shop and the encrypted text.
Iratus is visibly surprised by the information you found in the cave. “They must be related. The dragon who attacked Amphail was male. The mate of the deceased dragon you found in the cave, no doubt. So we have a deceased female dragon, a vengeful mate who, for some reason, thought Corvell was responsible or knew who was. That encoded text is probably the key. Can it be decoded?”
Mirt chuckles and says : “Already on it, Sir Iratus. A sage had identified a text he needs to finish the job and they have already agreed to go into Undermountain to get it.”
Iratus raises and eyebrow “Tymora’s good luck be with you. Ye’ll surely need it” he says in a strange voice, as if quoting someone else.
Iratus turns to Mirt “Thank you, I can see I did well in speaking to you of this matter. Please give them the agreed upon reward. I must go. When you have news, reach me as usual.” He turns to you as he rises to leave: “And thank you all. Be careful Below. Tymora’s blessing will be needed, no doubt.”
Iratus leaves as fast as he came.
Mirt turns to you “You will need to equip yourselves for the trip below. Today is the 25th of December. I would recommended you take tomorrow to equip yourselves with plenty of torches, rope, food and water. I will try and gather all the information I can on the location of Onlor the Green. Come back on the morning of the 27th and we’ll go over whatever information I have found. In the meantime, here is the reward that Iratus mentionned.”
Mirt open a drawer on a nearby desk and pulls out a heavy bag that jingles. “2500gp, a prince’s ransom. Whatever else he is, Iratus is no ingrate”
Mirt escorts you to his door and bids your goodbye.

That evening, at your Inn, you receive a message from Inquisitor Praetus that Kedrin Rockcrusher, the accomplice of the serial killer demon you helped destroy, has escaped Helm’s Hold. No other details are provided.
